It may have been the last day of the month, but Halloween dominated Facebook IQ’s Hot Topics on Facebook and Instagram for October, much as it did in September.

As for other holidays and events, Facebook users started talk about Thanksgiving, while Instagrammers discussed Day of the Dead and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

October is known for postseason baseball, and Major League Baseball’s World Series, the champion Boston Red Sox and the runner-up Los Angeles Dodgers led sports talk on both platforms.

On the entertainment side, Lady Gaga and Bohemian Rhapsody were Hot Topics on Facebook, while Instagrammers chatted about Tyga and Vic Mensa.

Facebook users talked about Banksy and Kate Middleton when it came to people, while Banksy was joined by different royals on Instagram, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

In the brands category, Covergirl and Lenovo heated up Facebook, while Instagrammers discussed Olive Garden.

Finally, in the food and drink category, Facebook users chowed down on cabbage rolls last month, while Double Cross Vodka was the drink of choice for Instagrammers.

Facebook IQ measured subjects that drove disproportionately high volumes of discussion on both social platforms, marking the latest in a Facebook-Adweek Hot Topics monthly series that began in 2015.
