Freeform Taps Snapchat AR Marker Tech to Back Its Motherland: Fort Salem

The lens debuted on International Women’s Day

Disney’s Freeform cable network is backing the March 18 debut of Motherland: Fort Salem with a new augmented reality Snapchat lens that uses the application’s AR marker tech to transform U.S. currency.

The lens was released for International Women’s Day Sunday.

Motherland: Fort Salem is set in an alternate America of 300 years ago, where witches ended their persecution by making a deal with the U.S. government to fight for their country, and the show’s themes include female friendship, empowerment and using the power of voice to affect change.

The lens transforms men’s faces on bills into the face of General Alder, Fort Salem’s female lead, and it places Snapchatters in front of an alternate U.S.
