In the one year since Reddit opened the doors to its Toronto office to serve the Canadian market, the company said it has seen significant growth in its local community, engineering, product and sales teams.
Reddit plans to continue adding on for engineering (back end and front end) and sales roles.
The company said brands including Dapper Labs, Microsoft, Mitsubishi and Questrade have successfully tapped its platform to reach passionate online communities, and it singled out commission-free trading platform Wealthsimple, saying that it used Reddit’s Conversation Placements ad offering to reach users already discussing finance on the platform, and 33% of people who installed its application became clients.
Wealthsimple director of acquisition Cedric Hulin said in a blog post, “Advertising on Reddit helps us reach new and existing customers where they’re at.
