Tumblr Brings Back Its #BlackExcellence365 Campaign for Black History Month
Activists and artists will be spotlighted

Tumblr is kicking off Black History Month with its #BlackExcellence365 campaign, aimed at highlighting black activists and artists that use its platform.
#BlackExcellence365 will incorporate Artist Spotlights, as well as reblogging content.
Tumblr will also discuss topics that affect the black community throughout the year via its ongoing #Issues2020 campaign.
Upcoming content includes:
- Feb. 10: Black Girls Vote will discuss voter suppression and voter rights.
- Feb. 17: Aundre Larrow will talk about his experiences as a photographer shooting projects that focus on black bodies.
- April 15: 18MillionRising will discuss how immigration and mass incarceration are inevitably related and what we can do as a community to dismantle systems that oppress black and brown people.
- June 17: There will be a conversation about reproductive justice in the black community and how it affects black women.
Activists that were part of last year’s campaign included:
- Muslim Girl Army’s Kawther Inuwa, who took part in a Spotlight about the experiences of being a Black Muslim woman.
- 18MillionRising talked about how the Asian-American community can show and support solidarity for Black communities in its Spotlight.
- Pro-black, pro-queer, pro-immigrant and pro-worker organization Southerners on New Ground demonstrated how they are showing LGBTQ+ visibility in the South.
And artists who were profiled in last year’s campaign included Josef Adamu, Derrick Adams, Afrochella and Animated Text.
