With people working virtually due to the pandemic and playing virtually due to the emergence of the Oculus Quest 2 headset, Facebook’s virtual reality unit combined the best of both worlds with its release of the Horizon Workrooms application Thursday.

Oculus From Facebook described Horizon Workrooms as a virtual collaboration app that can “redefine the way we work and be a foundational step toward building the metaverse,” adding that it works across VR and the web and enables teams to collaborate, communicate and connect remotely, “whether that’s getting together to brainstorm or whiteboard an idea, work on a document, hear updates from your team, hang out and socialize or simply have better conversations that flow more naturally.”
