Facebook Set to Kick Off Global Digital Event for Group Administrators

Over 65,000 have already RSVPed to Community Connect: Navigating Covid-19

Facebook will host its first ever global digital event for group administrators, Community Connect: Navigating Covid-19.

The event will take place between Tuesday (April 21) and Thursday (April 23), depending on group admins’ language and time zone. Facebook said over 65,000 people have already RSVPed.

The social network said that since the coronavirus pandemic hit, more than 4.5 million people have joined support groups related to Covid-19 in the U.S., along with over 3 million in Italy and 2 million-plus in the U.K.

Community Connect: Navigating Covid-19 will feature workshops in seven languages, as well as peer-to-peer discussions enabling group admins to connect with one another and share their experiences.

There will also be remarks from psychologist and author Adam Grant, Thrive Global founder and CEO and HuffPost co-founder Arianna Huffington, Facebook application head Fidji Simo and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Simo said, “During this time, we’ve seen many people turn to Facebook groups to stay connected and form community—both at the global and local levels. It’s been inspiring to see people helping each other out and finding support, from doctors collaborating on how to help their Covid-19 patients all the way to local communities making sure that the elderly get groceries. We are committed to supporting community leaders around the world who offer support to others, and we thank them for helping bring the world closer together.”
