Spotify said Thursday that it will begin extending access to its Marquee advertising option to more artists and their teams in the U.S. in the coming months.
The audio streaming platform introduced Marquee in October 2019 as a way for artists to promote their new releases to Spotify Free and Premium listeners who have shown prior interest in those artists’ music, whether through their pages on Spotify or via playlists.
A Spotify spokesperson said Marquee reminded her of booking a billboard near New York’s Williamsburg Bridge for new album releases in her previous role at a record label, but drivers and passengers had to make a mental note to check out those new releases, while with Marquee, they are served a popup and can begin listening instantly.
