Workplace From Facebook Reaches Out to Government Agencies, Emergency Services

Its Advanced tier will be available free-of-charge for 12 months

Government agencies and emergency services will have access to the Advanced tier of enterprise solution Workplace From Facebook free-of-charge for the next 12 months to help them deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said during a press call Wednesday that early versions of what became Workplace From Facebook “became so critical to how we ran the company internally,” so he wanted to be sure governments and emergency services organizations could gain access to the platform.

The social network said in a Newsroom post, “These organizations play a vital role during the coronavirus outbreak, whether it’s acting as first responders or coordinating public information. Workplace can help inform and connect their employees, allowing them to share critical information in real-time and enabling leadership to reach employees via live videos, posts and more.”

Zuckerberg called out first responders during the press call, saying, “This is truly a very difficult and stressful time for a lot of people. Some of the work these folks are doing is absolutely heroic.”
