The notification button is now live on iOS and Android, and Twitter officially announced it (via tweet, naturally) Monday:
Don't miss a live moment! Turn on notifications to join in when someone you follow shares live video on Twitter. pic.twitter.com/dddk81GuCH
— Twitter (@twitter) September 12, 2016
According to Twitter, the new notification button is located on the top-right-hand corner of account profiles, next to the follow button, and users can tap it to subscribe to alerts from that account—“all tweets,” “only tweets with live video” or “none.”
Users who opt to receive notifications when accounts are broadcasting live will receive alerts in the flagship Twitter app if it is open, or push notifications that will bring them directly to the tweet and live Periscope video.
Facebook introduced notifications for Facebook Live videos earlier this year.
