Ketchum Takes Majority Stake in Chinese Operations

Ketchum has taken a majority stake in its China operations. Ketchum first entered into a partnership with Newscan, a China-based firm, in 1988.  Newscan founders CEO Kenneth Chu and Betty Lo, president, will continue as equity partners in the company and in their roles as leaders of the firm’s Greater China operations. Newscan was founded in 1980.

Ketchum has five offices in Taiwan, mainland China, and Hong Kong. Ketchum has more than 200 employees in China with offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Taipei. The Chinese offices have worked with clients including the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Ketchum has also recently acquired Maslov PR in Russia, completed its merger with Pleon, and in early 2010, entered into a joint venture with TBWA\RAAD\PR in the Middle East.
