Facebook Is Celebrating Mother’s Day With Some Special Features

More than 105 million Mother’s Day posts were generated last year, and more than 850 million photos and videos were shared

Mother’s Day 2016 drove more posts in a single day than any other topic on Facebook, and the social network is gearing up for the 2017 edition this Sunday with a host of new features.

Facebook said more than 105 million Mother’s Day posts were generated last year, and more than 850 million photos and videos were shared.

On Sunday, users may see messages atop their News Feeds that will enable them to create personalized cards for mothers or other loved ones, giving them the option of selecting which photo to include.

On the topic of photos, Mother’s Day-themed masks and frames are available via Facebook Camera, and users can access them by swiping right on News Feed and launching the effects tray.

Some users will also have access to a new Reaction, Thankful, which looks like a flower and leads to “something special” that wraps around the post they are reacting to.
