Facebook Is Giving Users More Details When Custom Audiences Are Used

Ads’ ‘Why am I seeing this?’ explanations will include the name of the business that uploaded their information

Starting Feb. 27, Facebook will add more information to its “Why am I seeing this?” explanations of ads for users in cases when custom audiences built from customer files were used.

The social network said in a Facebook Advertiser Hub post that when a shared custom audience from a customer file is used in an ad, that ad’s “Why am I seeing this?” explanation will include the name of the business that uploaded the user’s information to Facebook, as well as any other sharing of custom audiences that may have taken place, including potential involvement from agencies, Facebook Marketing Partners or other partners.

In cases where an agency or Facebook Marketing Partner establishes an “on behalf of” agreement with a client—meaning that an ad account is only acting on behalf of that specific brand—the explanation will be simplified.
