Twitter Releases Hashtag-Triggered Emoji for the Paralympic Games

The social network is also backing the #WeThe15 movement

The Paralympic Games begin Aug. 24 in Tokyo and run through Sept. 5, and Twitter users are ready.

A study commissioned by the social network and conducted by Sparkler found that:

  • 82% of Twitter users agree that the Paralympics deserve more attention and coverage than they receive.
  • 72% agree that the Paralympic Games transcend global politics.
  • 78% agree that the Paralympics gives them hope for the future.

Twitter users can unlock a hashtag-triggered emoji by including #Paralympics in their tweets throughout the games, and the hashtag-triggered emojis for sports and medals introduced for the 2020
