Zynga Partners with The Killers, Jimmy Kimmel in FarmVille 2: Country Escape

Zynga RedIn celebration of this holiday season of giving, Zynga and Apps for (RED) have partnered with Jimmy Kimmel and music group The Killers for a new charity promotion in FarmVille 2: Country Escape on mobile. From now until December 7, players can stream The Killers and Jimmy Kimmel’s song “Joel the Lump of Coal” for free within the game, or download it to donate to (RED)’s campaign to fight AIDS.

Upon loading the game, players can listen to the song via a message in the game’s news window. The song can be streamed for free as many times as players would like, and the app contains a link to download the song on iTunes. The standalone song is available to download for $1.29, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to (RED)’s fight against AIDS.

“This is our ninth year giving back to (RED) and the fight against AIDS with our versions of holiday carols,” said Ronnie Vannucci, drummer for The Killers, in a statement. “Each year we like to spread out and collaborate with our friends. This year, after staying up way too late drinking ‘nog with our pal Jimmy Kimmel, we made yet another one, about a lump of coal. We’re really excited for everyone to hear it.”

This isn’t the first time a popular musician has come to the mobile farm, as country singer Keith Urban made an appearance in the game back in May 2014. Since 2009, over five million Zynga players have contributed to 150 in-game promotions, supporting 50 charities and causes around the world.

FarmVille 2: Country Escape is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
