Check out the stories that you may have missed below. Facebook Buys $40 Million Friendster Patents Remember the old social networking site Friendster? In an effort that really only makes sense as a protective move, Facebook purchased Friendster's portfolio of patents this week. The purchase cost 40 million dollars and includes 11 pending patent applications. Read more about the components of the deal. Facebook To Hire Head Of Games Partnership Looking for a challenging new job? Facebook announced this week that they are hiring a new position to lead their Game Partnership department. The job would consist of maintaining and creating new partnerships that are both internal and extrenal in the Gaming industry. With an estimated 200 million people playing games a month, this serves to demonstrate how important games have become to Facebook and its future. Facebook Releases New Andriod Application It may have taken a few months of complaints, but Facebook has rolled out an updated application for Android phones this week. The application is now more similar to the application available for the iPhone. Also if you downloaded the application early this week, make sure you get the update as their was battery use problems that have been worked out with. Read more on that here. Paul Ceglia Thanks Arrest For Reminding Him Of Facebook Ownership By now, we all know about Paul Ceglia's recent lawsuit against the social networking site. This week Celigia annouced that he has a tax fraud arrest to thank for uncovering the alledged contract that gives him 84% ownership of Facebook. Facebook is still stating the contract is fake and the lawsuit is "frivolous". Facebook Doubles Size Of Planned Data Center Eight months ago, Facebook announced they were building their own data center. With the site recently surpassing 500 million users, it was announced this week that the center will be in need of a huge upgrade even though it hasn't been built yet. One phase is expected to be completed in 2011, and the other by 2012. Read all about the data center here. Facebook Voted Best Tech Employer Facebook has replaced Google as the best tech company employer. Business Insider has given the award based on employee reviews on Glassdoor. With a wide variety of advantages, employees note the independence and the ability to work across different groups as certain perks. Check out more perks that come with working at Facebook, and see why they earned the award. Vonage Wants You To Call Your Facebook Friends Have a smart phone? Vonage has released a new application that allows you to call your Facebook friends. One of the best parts, it is free and in one click you can dial your friends on the site. Nestle's War With Social Media Nestle was hit with a social media disaster awhile back when Greenpeace released a video that highlighted the company using palm oil grown on former rainforest land in South-East Asia and connected the Kit-Kat with the killing of orangutans. Facebook Giving Points To Helpers Facebook is now giving points out to those willing to help out others in the discussion area. The downside comes as those on the top of the list have the potential of being overwhelmed with messages from those seeking help. While it doesn't appear that being on the point leaderboard has any actual worth, it has bragging rights if nothing else. Quora Opens Up To Search Engines With the rocky start and unknown future of Facebook's newly announced Question service, Quora is heading to Google. Facebook offered a large amount of quality responses in a more limited fashion, and the question is being raised if the quality of the answers will decline once the service starts on Google.
