The Huffington Post Launches iPad App

The Huffington Post made its entry into the world of Apple tablets with the launch of its iPad app Monday, available free-of-charge.
The new app allows users to download HuffPost content to their iPads for offline reading, access content from all sections of the site, flip through articles, swipe through iPad-optimized slide shows, view videos, access the must-read stories as determined by HuffPost’s editorial team, navigate via stacks or a drop-down table of contents, and share content via Facebook and Twitter. The HuffPost app is compatible with all iPad models.

HuffPost CEO Eric Hippeau said:

Our iPad app is an exciting new way for our users to engage with HuffPost content. The goal of the app is not to simply repurpose content from The Huffington Post, but to create something powerful and appealing that fully leverages the device’s features and fluid functionality.

And co-founder and editor in chief Arianna Huffington added:

The iPad is a particularly satisfying way to access HuffPost. Our site’s presentation has always been very visual, and it’s even more so on this new app. Like the iPad itself, our app features sharp, arresting visuals, and is very easy to use. It’s a dynamic app that we hope will become habit-forming for iPad users. David Cohen is editor of Adweek's Social Pro Daily.
