Sony Hopes Crackle Pops on PlayStation Network

Why does Sony keep pouring cash into Web-video destination Crackle, to the tune of $1 million per episode for some of its Web series? According to The New York Times, its PlayStation Network might just have a little something to do with it.

As the Times points out, while NBC Universal’s DotComedy, Disney’s Stage 9, and Time Warner’s SuperDeluxe have fallen by the wayside, Crackle is going strong, adding that its content would be a perfect fit for PlayStation Network, as it is targeted toward the same audience: men 18-34.
