Snapchat and the Ad Council Are Taking Their Because of You Initiative to the Next Level

It debuted last October in support of National Bullying Prevention Month

Snapchat and the Ad Council are expanding on the Because of You campaign they initially introduced last October in support of National Bullying Prevention Month.

Because of You encourages teens to think about the power of their words and actions and how they affect others.

The messaging application created filters, stickers and Snap Ads to raise awareness about bullying, and it reminded its users that they can report bullying or offensive content by pressing and holding on the Snap and tapping the flag button.

On Thursday, Snapchat and the Ad Council will co-host a Creators for Good Summit at the former’s Santa Monica Creator’s Lounge.

Creators for Good is an Ad Council initiative that works with celebrities, digital content creators and other “established and emerging talent” to help spread its social good messages.

Thursday also marked the start of Snapchat’s first-ever Because of You Lens Challenge, in which users are encouraged to describe a time when someone had a positive impact on their life.

Snapchatters wishing to take part can tap on the app’s camera screen to activate the Lens Carousel, and then tap the smiley face icon to bring up Lens Challenges.

They can then choose the Because of You Lens Challenge to share their story and send their efforts to Snapchat for the chance to be featured in the app.
