Site Relaunch Working for PBS NewsHour

PBSNewsHourRelaunch.jpgWondering how the Website for PBS NewsHour has been faring since its recent relaunch? Fear not: PBS reported some metrics for the week of Dec. 6-12.

According to PBS, Wednesday, Dec. 9, drew the second most traffic to the PBS NewsHour site for 2009, trailing only the site’s coverage of the inauguration of President Barack Obama in January.

For the week of Dec. 6-12, page views were up 45% versus the week of Nov. 16-22 (PBS wanted to use results from a full week, so it is not comparing the Dec. 6-12 numbers with Thanksgiving week) and unique visitors jumped 26%.

PBS also launched a new URL this year to determine how many users went directly from watching the TV program to the site, and NewsHour.pbs.org drew 180% more users than the week of Nov. 16-22.

As far as other platforms, PBS said the PBS NewsHour YouTube channel was No. 81 on the Google-owned video site’s list of fastest-growing channels, adding that it saw a 30% increase in Facebook fans and its total number of Twitter followers “increased significantly.”
