Vox Media’s SB Nation and DraftKings, the sports tech and entertainment company that includes sports betting and fantasy sports, are partnering on a multiyear editorial media property called DraftKings Nation that’s going live today.
The website, which covers daily fantasy and sports betting, is rolling out just in time for the 2019 NFL season—the first game is Thursday night—and will expand to feature betting across all major sports leagues.
DraftKings Nation will be powered by Chorus, Vox Media’s tech property for media companies, and will be a part of Vox Media’s ad platform, Concert.
Financial details of the partnership were not disclosed.
“If you take our expertise centered around sports and DraftKings’ expertise in daily fantasy and now in sports betting, you really have a powerful combination that can serve fans and build big audiences and provide opportunities for marketers that have to be in front of those audiences in powerful and engaging ways,” said Vox Media chairman and CEO Jim Bankoff. “It’s an exciting partnership in a fast-growing category.”
SB Nation reaches more than 65 million people, according to the company, and DraftKings boasts a reach of more than 11 million across its app as well as its daily fantasy and sports betting products.
“Throughout the marketplace, we’re looking for a partner that would add this type of content to the mix and this type of experience to the mix,” said Ezra Kucharz, chief business officer at DraftKings.
