Polls Come to Reddit as a New Type of Post

Roughly 15,000 were being created monthly using third-party sites

Reddit introduced a new type of post Tuesday, polls, which enable its users to share their opinion by voting on questions shared by fellow Redditors.

Polls will be available for all Reddit communities except text-only communities, and starting Tuesday, they will default to “on,” although moderators can turn the feature off should they wish to do so.

Reddit said in a blog post that polls give its users a simple way to engage with the platform’s over 100,000 active communities, as well as making it easier for its 430 million monthly active users to participate in the conversation.

The company added that it is already seeing roughly 15,000 polls created each month via third-party sites.
