Pizza Hut Made a Heat-Insulated Parka Out of Delivery Pouches to Keep You Warm All Winter

Who needs a winter coat when you can have a pizza parka? To promote its new delivery pouches that are made with three layers of insulation—including the heat-trapping 3M Thinsulate material—the pizza chain designed a parka made out of the same material.

Each parka includes a weather-resistant outer covering, “heat-sealed seams,” Velcro and are lined in the same materials that are inside the delivery pouches. The apparel also includes a smartphone-sized flap that allows consumers to use their phone while wearing the jacket, pockets to stash packets of parmesan and red-pepper flakes and splash guards to stop marinara sauce from swishing around. The jackets were designed by Droga5.

“It’s so good at keeping pizza warm, we thought it would be great at keeping humans warm, too,” Pizza Hut said in a statement. “When you wear the pizza parka you get to feel like an oven-hot Pizza Hut pizza. And who doesn’t want that?”

Folks who place pizza orders through the brand’s website, mobile app or tweet the pizza and flame emojis at the brand’s account through October will be entered for a chance at winning one of the parkas.

The jackets are part of a bigger campaign from Pizza Hut to promote its hot system, which promises that deliveries will now arrive up to 15 degrees hotter because of the delivery pouches and new boxes that trap heat with thicker sides and cardboard sheets that keep the pizza slightly elevated so that heat stays around the pie. According to Pizza Hut, the new system is the result of two years’ worth of research and work.
