PetFinder Takes Web Product Offline

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve recently seen television host Ellen DeGeneres cry her eyes out about a puppy adoption that went dreadfully wrong. Maybe it’s her tears or the presence of first frost here in the Northeast that has us all warm and mushy over pet adoption. It’s nice to see we’re not alone. That’s why Petfinder.com, the Web site that matches little furry creatures with homes, is moving its way on to the screen.petfinderOwned by Discovery Communications under the Animal Planet brand, the new show will focus on local animal shelters and the families who open their hearts. The 60-minute show has been green lit for early ’08 on a 13 show run and will show on Animal Planet.

Currently, there are over 262,000 adoptable pets from over 11,000 adoption groups. The Web site puts all of the listings in one central location, giving adopters more time to shop for kitty litter and dog biscuits!

Petfinder is a true pet-lover’s resource that allows users to, learn before they adopt, search for pets, find adoption groups, post classified ads or find a place to volunteer. From the comfort of your own home you can search by size, breed and age – then track down the adorable creatures by zip code. The database is continuously updated by shelter staffs and volunteers. All that’s missing are Puppy/Kittys where you can hear the purrrrr or bark before you adopt. Maybe next year!
