Penguin UK’s First iPhone App Rockets to the Top of UK App Store

We don’t want you to fall behind on international eBook news, so here’s a tidbit from the British publishing press. Penguin UK has not only launched its first iPhone app, but it’s shot to the top of the free book apps section of the UK app store.

The app, a sampler for Paul Hoffman’s debut novel The Left Hand of God, enables users to download the first three chapters of the novel for free and then gives them the option to buy the rest from within the app. It was released on January 7th and had been downloaded by 10,000 people as of yesterday, shooting it to the top spot in the free book apps category.
