Social game developer Panhelios hopes to lure in match-three fans with Skyward Tale on Facebook, introducing players to a young boy named Skyward, who dreams his way into a sky full of colorful balloons. In Skyward Tale, players are tasked with completing dozens of match-three levels, each with its own goals and board layout.

Gameplay in Skyward Tale resembles that of many other Facebook match-three games, including Candy Crush Saga or Fairy Tale Twist. Players make matches of three or more like balloons to clear them from the board, but new balloons will float up from the bottom, rather than falling from the top of the board.

As players make matches of four or more balloons, or matches in special shapes like “T” or “L,” they’ll create power-up balloons capable of clearing whole rows or columns, or those that can eliminate every balloon in a three column stretch, as examples.

In addition, stars are hidden under some balloons, and can be freed by making a match on top of them, so long as those balloons match the color of the border surrounding the star. These stars can be used to purchase power-ups, like those that undo the last move or pop a single balloon on the board, as examples.

At the end of each stage, players can compare their scores with their friends on the in-game leaderboards. Levels become increasingly complicated over time, but players can also refill their lost lives (up to five) with premium currency.

Skyward Tale is now available to play for free on Facebook. The game has over 100,000 monthly active players. Check back soon to follow the app on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
