Ogilvy PR Expands Sacramento Office

Ogilvy PR is growing its Sacramento office with the hiring of Don Wilcox [pictured], who joins the office as senior vice president and Nicole Ratcliff who joins as vice president.

The pair will work to build a Government Affairs specialty in Ogilvy PR’s Sacramento office. Wilcox was most recently Chief of Staff to Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod. Ratcliff joins Ogilvy PR from local shop KP Public Affairs.

“Many of our clients have sought our advice in the government affairs side of the business. With the addition of Wilcox and Ratcliff we will be able to offer them the full range of services they are looking for, from help with public affairs and media relations, to advice on issues that are taking place in the halls of the Capitol,” said Michael Law, managing director of Ogilvy PR/West Coast in a statement.

Valerie Vento was promoted in December 2009 to lead the Sacramento office as executive vice president.

In related news, Porter Novelli closed its Sacramento office several weeks ago. An Ogilvy PR rep said the agency’s decision to ramp up in Sacramento was not tied to the Porter Novelli closure. “Sacramento has always been a strong market for us with California being such a bellwether state for public affairs and social marketing campaigns – we have had state contracts for decades,” the rep said.
