It’s been a big week for Facebook’s Oculus VR virtual-reality unit: After celebrating the anniversary Tuesday of the date when Oculus Rift first shipped, Wednesday brought announcements about the new Gear VR and Gear VR Controller, as well as several platform updates.
Oculus announced in a blog post that the new Gear VR and Gear VR Controller will be available April 21 for $129, adding that current Gear VR owners can purchase the Controller for $39.
The company also detailed the updates to its mobile platform, starting with a rebuild of Oculus Home, which it said reduced load times by three times and provided easier access to videos and other content.
The Oculus Browser launched on Gear VR Wednesday, enabling users to search the web directly from Oculus Home.
Finally, Oculus announced that 70 new Gear VR titles with Gear VR Controller are launching—20 in April, and 50 more “over the next few months.”
