New Social Device Lets You Meet Like-Minded People In The Real World, Wherever You Go

MagnetU has just announced the official launch of a new wearable social device that lets you take your social interests and desires with you wherever you go, and matches you up with like-minded people for spontaneous social experiences.

Wherever you go you’re surrounded by people, but you don’t know anything about them.  The girl sitting two tables down from you in a coffee shop may be the love of your life or the guys three rows behind you in a movie theater might be your new best friends, and you’d never know.  Until now.  MagnetU has just announced the official launch of a new wearable social device that lets you take your social interests and desires with you wherever you go, and matches you up with like-minded people for spontaneous social experiences.

How does it work?  According to a press release it’s easy to get started. “You just need to connect magnetU to your computer, login to magnetU.com, ‘put on’ your social desires and link your magnetU to your mobile phone.”  For instance, you can look for dating or business matches, or meet people who are fans of popular brands.  Then, take magnetU with you wherever you go and it will start finding matches of people with similar social desires.

When magnetU finds a mutual match you receive a message letting you know if the match is ‘Attractive’, ‘Hot’ or ‘Red-Hot’ and you can decide whether you want to connect.

Why do you need a separate device and not just a mobile phone?  CEO and founder of magnetU, Yaron Moradi, says, “The movement of people in the real world is very dynamic.  This requires a constant use of the radio to dynamically build social circles.”  According to the press release, “GPS in inadequate due to high battery consumption that can easily drain a mobile battery in two hours, lack of indoor coverage, and physical location privacy concerns.  MagnetU solves all these problems.”  The device also does away with the need to constantly manually update your location so you can find matches easily with no effort on your part.

MagnetU will be launched over the coming weeks.  They’ll be working with major brands, content companies and mobile officers to distribute the device at free or nominal cost, starting with select cities and college campuses.  The device will also be available for purchase in the magnetU shop for $23.97 a month after the launch.
