New AP Stylebook Includes "Twitter"

Twitter has now fully arrived.

This morning the AP announced that Twitter has made it into the 2009 edition of The Associated Press Stylebook. Also making the cut ‘credit default swaps’ and ‘derivatives’, words that have gained more exposure during the global recession.

An official Twitter account for the AP Stylebook, (@APStylebook) already has 6,300 followers and there are four Facebook groups devoted to this essential guide all dubbed “The AP Stylebook is my Bible.”

This new edition of the Stylebook also has a “Quick Reference Guide” to make it easier for users to answer the most common questions on topics such as abbreviations and acronyms; homicide, murder and manslaughter; and polls and surveys.
