CNET News is reporting that Courtney Holt, an MTV executive, will be named as president of MySpace Music possibly as early as today, according to a source close to the company.

Some industry analysts are predicting that MySpace Music could be the first real competitor (in terms of market share) to Apple’s iTunes Store, though that seems doubtful given the early lukewarm reviews of the service.

MySpace Music launched back in September, offering DRM-free MP3 downloads and ad-supported Internet music streaming, but has famously lacked a CEO for some time now.
