Margaret Chu Joins Vox Media as CFO

Media agency veteran moves to a media organization

Chu joins Vox Media as its chief financial officer.

Margaret Chu has been named Vox Media’s new chief financial officer, coming over from Horizon Media where she served as evp of corporate strategy and development.

Chu starts in her role on March 2. She joins the Vox Media team after its merger with New York Media in November. Vox Media has spent the months since piecing together the new media organization, including integrating the New York Media brands into a new data offering for potential clients.

“Margaret Chu is the ideal CFO for Vox Media at a high-growth moment when we are diversifying our business and taking big swings. Her experience as a top-level deal maker, operational leader and highly analytical thinker will enable us to accelerate our growth and industry leadership,” said Vox Media chairman and CEO Jim Bankoff in a statement.

Chu is another high-level media agency executive who has worked their way over to a media organization, including Rich Antoniello, now Complex’s CEO and founder, who once worked at Saatchi & Saatchi.

“I’m thrilled to join the Vox Media team,” Chu said in a statement. “The content created across Vox Media resonates with authenticity and passion, and as an avid consumer of digital media, I read, watch and listen to Vox Media-published content on a daily basis.”
