Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest Announced for Mobile

The game will combine the popular trading card game with match-three puzzle battles.

D3 Go! has partnered with Wizards of the Coast for the creation of Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest, an upcoming puzzle battle RPG in the popular Puzzle Quest franchise. Based on the popular trading card game, Magic: The Gathering, the free mobile title will see players battling against other players or monsters in match-three battles, as they make matches with symbols to damage their opponents.

Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest is being developed by Hibernum Creations, and will offer quests for players to complete, as well as daily events and tournaments. As players complete battles, they’ll collect a variety of creatures, spells and artifacts for their deck. Players will also earn experience point levels, and will unlock special abilities at certain levels.

In a statement, Peter Andrew, vice president of publishing at D3 Go!, commented:

Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest is the ideal marriage of the deep lore and strategic elements of Wizards of the Coasts’ iconic series, along with the gripping match-three gameplay of one of the most popular puzzle game series in history.

From the competitive tournaments to the intense in-game battles, Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest perfectly encapsulates the strongest elements of both franchises to create something compellingly new, yet perfectly intuitive to Magic fans and puzzle gamers alike.

Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest is expected to release on the iTunes App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore this fall. The game will join two other licensed Puzzle Quest installments in D3 Go’s lineup: Marvel Puzzle Quest and Adventure Time Puzzle Quest. Check back soon for more.
