LinkedIn users worldwide can now upload documents and presentations to their feeds, groups or pages on the professional network, with plans to extend the feature to its mobile applications soon.
Product manager Margaret Taormina described how the new option works in a blog post.
LinkedIn users on desktop can tap the document icon in the share box on their feed, and then designate a document or presentation from their computer for uploading.
They will be given the opportunity to add a brief description to the file they are sharing, which can include hashtags and @ mentions.
When ready, users can designate who they want to share the document or presentation with (anyone on LinkedIn, connections only or a group they belong to).
Taormina wrote, “Using different types of documents and presentations in our day-to-day jobs can help share information, capture insights and break down complex topics. Whether it’s sharing slides from a conference you spoke at or a playbook with best practices, these conversations can help you navigate your work life and be more successful.”
