LinkedIn outlined the steps it is taking to keep it members informed about the coronavirus and provide them with resources to remain productive during the epidemic.
Senior vice president of product and CEO in waiting Ryan Roslansky said in a blog post that the professional network’s 60-plus editors are populating an official coronavirus feed with content including insights on the epidemic’s effects on the economy, companies’ responses, new policies being put in place and best practices for people and companies adjusting the ways they work.
A new Trending News section in LinkedIn’s feed features reliable updates from experts including the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, available in 54 countries and nine languages.
A trusted information section curated by the LinkedIn editorial team will appear when using search, as well as in the professional network’s Daily Rundown morning update, which is sent to members in 96 countries in nine languages.
Roslansky said searches on LinkedIn for terms such as #WFH and #RemoteWork have spiked “significantly” in the past several weeks, and people are using LinkedIn to unearth tips and best practices for transforming from traditional offices to remote work setups, including using LinkedIn Live to share updates with colleagues in real-time.
The professional network will also make 16 courses on LinkedIn Learning available free-of-charge, including tips on staying productive, building relationships without face-to-face meetings, using virtual meeting tools (Microsoft Teams, Skype, BlueJeans, Cisco Webex, Zoom) and balancing family and work dynamics.
Roslansky concluded, “We’ll keep moving quickly to make sure we are helping you get information you can trust and are able to stay connected to your community. While the world of work is changing, sharing perspectives and having conversations on related topics not only helps others who are looking for advice, but also serves as a reminder that we’re not alone in working through these challenges.”
