Instagram detailed its efforts to keep its users safe and informed with regard to the coronavirus, which basically mirror those of parent company Facebook.
Harmful information related to Covid-19 is being removed from its platform.
If an Instagrammer taps on a hashtag related to Covid-19 or the coronavirus, they will see resources from the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities.
Facebook’s third-party fact-checking partners will review posts that may be misleading.
Hashtags being used to spread information will be blocked and restricted by Instagram, and ads that exploit the crisis will be banned.
Instagram said in a tweet, “We’re thinking through a longer-term solution to help connect people searching Covid-19-related terms with credible information. In the meantime, we’re showing the accounts of leading health organizations in these searches to better connect people to credible resources.”
