Facebook Watch is making its first foray into the true-crime genre, reaching an agreement with Law & Crime Productions for two exclusive series.
Law & Crime Productions is the production arm of Law & Crime Network, which provides round-the-clock trial coverage and analysis. The network was founded by ABC News chief legal correspondent Dan Abrams, who also hosts Live PD on A&E.
The two Facebook Watch series are:
- Buried With Love, executive-produced by Whitney Ellis, Abrams and Stockman, tells the story of Brooke Skylar Richardson, a high-school cheerleader in Ohio who was charged with murder after police found her newborn baby buried in her backyard. It debuts Dec. 15 and airs weekly on Thursdays.
- Vanished, executive-produced by George Plamondon, Abrams and Law & Crime president Rachel Stockman, which tells the stories of children who mysteriously disappeared and seeks viewers’ help in finding them. The missing child’s last whereabouts and any known suspects are highlighted. Vanished debuts Dec. 26 and airs weekly on Sundays.
Stockman said in a release, “There is a huge appetite for true crime on Facebook, as evidenced by the literally thousands of private group pages dedicated to solving and following crime. We are excited to provide a new way to tap into this community through compelling short-form storytelling. We also hope our stories will make a difference and help solve some of these tragic cases.”
