La Russa Drops Twitter Suit

Tony La Russa, manager of Major League Baseball’s St. Louis Cardinals, dropped all claims in his lawsuit against Twitter and said he was not compensated in exchange for doing so, AP reported.

La Russa filed suit against the social-networking site earlier this month, claiming that an unauthorized page using his name damaged his reputation and caused emotional distress. The suit alleged trademark infringement, “cybersquatting” and misappropriation of his name.

A fake Twitter page under La Russa’s name poked fun at his arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and at the deaths of two Cardinals pitchers over the past few years.
