Jon Stewart Trolls Congress’ #WorstResponders on The Daily Show

From first to worst. Thanks Congress.

Making a triumphant return to his show, Jon Stewart made a special guest appearance on The Daily Show, much to the chagrin of Congress — specifically, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky).

McConnell, the target of Stewart’s much-deserved ire, was there to discuss the travesty of H.R. 1786, James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act, more commonly known as the Zadroga Act.

The Zadroga Act was first introduced in 2006 but was tabled when Congress said the $7.4 billion price tag was too high. Get that, for first responders at Ground Zero. Stewart, along with most Americans who have a soul, took lawmakers to task on his show in 2010, and within six days of the segment airing, the legislation was passed.

Stunning how public pressure to a colossal #PRFail does that.

As you can tell, it’s now up for “reauthorization” because the bill is up for renewal…and hasn’t been renewed. Again, for first responders at Ground Zero. Stewart attests (and the aforementioned Americans agree) that the act is being held up solely for political gain.

So, Stewart marched on Washington.

The clip below is genius programming, but the hashtag that came out of it “#WorstResponders” trended globally and almost instantly. The targets are “@SenateMajLdr” and “@SpeakerRyan.” The result will hopefully be a reauthorization of an act that should have been acted upon long ago.

Funny isn’t it?

Comedy Central is doing something to help America with news and the national news networks are doing much ado about nothing to show America a bunch of comedy.

Enjoy the clip and social media away.
