Instagram’s IGTV Long-Form Video Destination Adds Support for Series

A tool was rolled out for creators

Instagram is now supporting series content on its IGTV long-form video destination, and the Facebook-owned photo- and video-sharing rolled out a tool enabling creators to take advantage.

Select creators are already using the series tool, including Yara Shahidi, Kade Speiser and Igrid Neilsen.

Creators using the tool can give fans the option of turning on notifications so that they will be aware when new episodes are available for viewing.

Videos that are part of a series can be organized on a series page, and each video will include a badge with the name of the series, so people can differentiate them from the creator’s other videos on IGTV.

And when a viewer watches an episode that is part of a series, the next episode will automatically be recommended if it is ready for viewing.

Creators can begin using the tool by tapping “Add to Series.” If they have not yet created any series, they will be asked for a series name and given the option of writing a description. Or videos can be added to existing series.

To add existing content to a series, creators can go to their profile, select the IGTV tab, tap on the video they want to add, tap on the overflow menu, select “Edit” and tap on the new Add to Series option, after which they can follow the instructions above.

To remove a video from a series, creators can select the IGTV tab from their profile, tap on the video they wish to remove, tap the overflow menu and select “Remove From Series.”
