Instagram: Here’s How to Tag Someone in a Story Post

Users will receive notifications when they've been tagged

Have you ever wanted to tag another user in one of your Instagram Story posts? Our guide will show you how to do just that.

Note: These screenshots were captured in the Instagram application on iOS.

Step 1: On your Instagram home feed, tap the camera icon in the top-left corner of the screen.

Step 2: Take a new picture or video, or import one from your camera roll.

Step 3: Tap “Aa” in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 4: Type the @ symbol, followed by the username of the person/profile you wish to tag. Note: You can change the text size using the vertical slider on the left side of the screen, or by using pinch-to-zoom controls once the tag has been created. If you want to change the text’s color, you can do so either before typing the @ symbol, or after completing Step 5 below.

Step 5: Tap the correct person/profile in the search results that appear. This will turn the text into a link to that profile.

Step 6: Tap “Done” in the top-right corner of the screen to finish adding the tag. Note: Each post can have up to 10 individual tags, and you can drag each tag to your desired location before sharing your post.
