I Just Checked Into a Place Far from Home…Please Rob Me

In every discussion about geolocation-based apps that reveal users’ locations, like foursquare and Gowalla, there always seems to be one person who says (or, at least, thinks), “Hey, aren’t you worried about someone robbing your house if they know you’re not home?”

Barry Borsboom, Boy van Amstel, and Frank Groeneveld took that thought one step further with the launch of Please Rob Me, which uses a Twitter search and publishes the results — basically a list of people who just checked into locations other than their homes.
