You Can Now Mute People on Twitter

Twitter is rolling out a mute function to all users in the coming months.

Today, Twitter announced its newest feature: mute. The feature is being rolled out on the iOS, Android and web platforms, and will allow users to haven more control over their timelines.”Mute gives you even more control over the content you see on Twitter by letting you remove a user’s content from key parts of your Twitter experience,” said the announcement.

While the muted user will still be able to favorite, reply to and retweet your tweets, you will not see their tweets in your timeline.

There are two ways to mute someone. You can mute from inside of a tweet by clicking “More” at the bottom, and then “Mute.” You can also go to a user’s profile page, click the gear icon and select “Mute” from the drop-down menu.

The announcement comes at a perfect time, as people have been discussing the tweetstorm. If a tweep has been clogging up your timeline with their “1/” “2/” “3/” etc. it may be time to hit that mute button. The feature is being rolled out to all users in the coming weeks.
