Here’s How to Share a Facebook Post

Our guide explains the many different ways you can share a Facebook post

Did you know that you have multiple options when it comes to sharing the Facebook posts you see in your News Feed? From sharing a post directly to your own News Feed to doing so outside of the Facebook application itself, our guide breaks down your many options.

Note: These screenshots were captured in the Facebook app on iOS.

Step 1: Tap “Share” on the post you’d like to share.

From here, you have multiple options:

Option 1: If you want to quickly share the post to your own timeline, select “Share Now.”

Option 2: If you want to add your own comment to a post before sharing it, select “Write Post.”

In addition to writing your own comment, you can also tap “Tap to Change” at the top of the screen to change where you’ll share the post (your personal News Feed, a group or a page). Note: If you’re sharing the post to your personal Timeline, you have the option to change the post’s privacy setting before sharing it (posts on a Facebook page are public). Finally, you can add content such as check-in information and an “activity” to a post before sharing it.

Option 3: To share the post in a private or group message through Facebook Messenger, tap “Send in Messenger.”

This loads the Messenger app (if it’s installed on your device), where you can add your own personal message before sharing the post with one or more contacts. You can select the recipient(s) from the “Recent” and “Groups” lists under the message composition window, or you can search for contacts manually.

Option 4: To share a post to a Facebook page, tap “Share to a Page.” As with Option No. 2 above, you can tap “Tap to Change” at the top of the screen to select the Facebook page you’d like to share the post to.

Option 5: To share a post outside of the Facebook app, tap “Copy Link.” From there, you can paste the link into a text message, email or another app to share the post.
