Facebook Is Helping SMBs and Ecommerce Brands Set Up Shop in The Market @ Macy's

The social network and the department store chain teamed up on the holiday initiative

Facebook teamed up with department store chain Macy’s on a holiday gift for select small and midsized businesses and ecommerce brands—the ability to display their wares in The Market @ Macy’s for the holiday shopping season.

More than 150 brands including Charleston Gourmet Burger Co., Inspiralized, Love Your Melon, Mented Cosmetics and Two Blind Brothers will be a part of the initiative, and The Market @ Macy’s will be open at nine Macy’s stores: New York; Pittsburgh; Atlanta; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; San Antonio; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; San Francisco; and Seattle.

Shops in The Market @ Macy’s will cover categories including apparel, accessories, beauty, entertainment, experiences, decorative home, stationary, technology and gifts.

Facebook said more than one-half of people in the U.S. are connected to SMBs in some way, and it sees that sector as “critical to the country’s growth.”

We know that 50% of America’s population is in some way connected to a small business (family connection; employee; employer) and so we see small businesses as critical to the country’s growth.

Director of North America marketing Michelle Klein added, “All over the world, people are running businesses, big and small, that have inspiring stories, and we want to help them succeed. We are thrilled to be partnering with one of the world’s biggest retailers to bring some of those businesses to a physical store this holiday season. Macy’s shoppers will have the chance to meet businesses like Love Your Melon, which sells hats and apparel to help in the fight against pediatric cancer, or Charleston Gourmet Burger Co., which started from a backyard barbecue and has expanded to reach customers in all 50 states. There is nothing small about small business, and Macy’s is helping to celebrate their stories.”
