Facebook and Instagram are marking Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month with new features, resources for Latinx-owned small and midsized businesses and new programming on the Facebook Watch long-form video destination.
Instagram users have access to new stickers from Latinx illustrators Gabriela Alemán, Dia Pacheco and Camila Rosa, and green-and-yellow gradient will be added to the rings on their Stories when those stickers are used.
A new augmented reality camera effect celebrates the diverse spectrum of Latinx heritage.
Messenger From Facebook released a 360-degree immersive background for video calls or Messenger Rooms in order to help bring virtual celebrations with friends and family to life.
On the business side, the social network introduced Latinx Hispanic Business Boost, a free, month-long program from Boost With Facebook.
Content was developed in partnership with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Latino Business Action Network, and it will include training, small business panels and external speaker sessions on topics such as access to capital and content creation. Registration is open here.
Facebook also created a resource guide for Latinx business owners, including creative tips, success stories and training resources.
Red Table Talk: The Estefans will debut on Facebook Watch in October, bringing three generations of women—Gloria Estefan, niece Lily and daughter Emily—to the iconic red table to share opinions and life experiences.
On Friday (Sept. 18), Banda los Sebastianes and Enigma Norteño will premiere an editor’s cut video of new song “Soy Javier,” and Facebook Watch will also feature exclusive music videos from De La Ghetto, Lalo Ebratt, Human(X) featuring David Guetta, Maejor, Abraham Mateo, Sofia Reyes, Thalia, Manuel Turizo and Zion & Lennox, as well as an official prequel video to “A Dónde Van” from Sebastián Yatra and Alvaro Díaz and live concert content from La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho.
A dedicated Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month playlist will be available, and fans can create Stories with music stickers on both Instagram and Facebook.
Finally, throughout the month of September, Latinx creators, artists, small businesses and resources will be featured on the pages for Facebook, Facebook App, Facebook Business, Facebook Watch and Messenger From Facebook, as well as the Instagram Creators, Design, Instagram, Instagram for Business, Messenger and Shop accounts.
