Did you know that Facebook allows users to follow others to view their public posts without being their friends? By default, if your posts have a public privacy setting, this means that any user can follow you and view them without being your friend (however, if your posts aren’t set to “public,” your followers can’t view them).
While some users may enjoy this feature, what if you want to stop non-friends from following you? Our guide will show you how to do just that, from within Facebook’s mobile application. Note: These screenshots were captured in the Facebook app on iOS.
Step 1: Tap the three horizontal lines in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Step 2: Tap “Settings.”
Step 3: Tap “Account Settings.”
Step 4: Tap “Public Posts.”
Step 5: Tap “Friends” under “Who Can Follow Me” to prevent non-friends from following you.
Note: You can return to this screen again at a later time to change the option back to “Public” if you change your mind.
