The number of hours watched on Facebook Gaming increased by 75% in the second quarter of 2020 from the first quarter, reaching a peak of 342 million hours watched in May. When comparing June 2019 (111 million hours watched) to June 2020 (334 million hours watched), the platform experienced 200% growth.
As a comparison, Amazon’s Twitch also had a great second quarter, experiencing 56% quarter-over-quarter growth. Twitch reached over 5 billion hours watched in Q2, peaking at 1.8 billion in April.
