Facebook Continued to Be the Top Media Source for App Marketers in the First Half of 2018

Mobile analytics company AppsFlyer released its latest report

Facebook remained atop AppsFlyer's charts

AppsFlyer, a mobile analytics company, released the seventh edition of its Performance Index, which ranks the top media sources in mobile advertising.

The report looked at 14.5 billion application installations and 25 billion app openings across 8,200 apps from January through June 2018, and it found that Facebook continues to be the No. 1 media source for mobile app marketers, followed by Google in the second spot.

AppsFlyer looked at both volume and retention to create power rankings of media sources across gaming and non-gaming categories. Facebook topped both lists.

Non-gaming category top 10:

Overall, the report said, “Three out of four apps with a marketing budget are running campaigns on Facebook.”

The report also showed that Snapchat is climbing in the rankings, especially in the non-gaming category: “Overall, Snapchat’s share in the non-gaming app install pie has grown by a staggering 75 percent, while in gaming, an impressive 36 percent relative growth was recorded. Most of the social network’s growth was driven by advances in India, Eastern Europe and Australia.”
