Facebook Added 5 New Fact-Checking Partners Prior to the EU Parliamentary Elections

The social network now has 21 examining content in 14 European languages

Facebook’s efforts to safeguard the European Union Parliamentary elections in May continued with the addition of five new local fact-checking partners.

Product manager Antonia Woodford said in a Newsroom post that the following companies are now on board: Ellinika Hoaxes (Greece), FactCheckNI (Northern Ireland), Faktograf (Croatia), Observador (Portugal) and Patikrinta 15min (Lithuania).

She added that all of Facebook’s fact-checking partners are accredited by the International Fact-Checking Network, meeting standards in areas such as nonpartisanship and transparency of sources, and they will review and rate the accuracy of content on the social network.

The five new partners are also part of FactCheckEU, a collaborative effort led by the IFCN to fact-check content related to the EU Parliamentary elections.
