Facebook appears to have made its entry into the URL-shortening arena with fb.me, which both automatically shortens URLs in its mobile interface and substitutes for http://www.facebook.com/ in URLs, Inside Facebook reported.
In its example for the latter function, Inside Facebook pointed out that Facebook users seeking the social-networking site’s Starbucks page can type http://fb.me/starbucks instead of http://www.facebook.com/starbucks.
